Ask the Climate Question:
Election Campaign

Ask the Climate Question is a campaign that has been launched by some of the major campaigning and advocacy agencies in the UK. The idea behind the campaign is that between now and the General Elections, members of the general public will make a concerted effort to ask prospective parliamentary candidates (PPCs) questions related to the environment and climate change. This is particularly important if you live in a marginal constituency where the seats are hotly contested. Marginal seats will be the focus of the main political parties, who will want to know what kind of issues you care about. If you to get the message across to these parties that you care about climate change and its impact on your life and the lives of others then the UK political parties will have to listen and take action to tackle climate change. Therefore the more questions you ask the bigger impact it will have.
There are several ways that you can ask these questions:
- On the doorsteps: If your PPCs come knocking on your door tell them that climate change is important to you and ask them what they and their party are intending to do about it.
- Write, email or phone your Prospective Parliamentary Candidates: If it is not convenient for you to meet your candidate face-to-face, or you don’t get a door knock, you can contact them by writing, emailing or phoning them. You will be able to find their details on the websites of your local parties.
- Write to your local newspaper or phone your local radio: Create a noise in the local media by writing letters to your local newspaper or phoning you local radio to tell them your concerns about climate change.
Let us know how the asking goes! If you do get an opportunity to ask the questions please email the Big Green Jewish Website with feedback on how it went:
