In modern society, more and more attention is being drawn to global warming. But, novel and unique ways to tackle the threat are rarely focused on. As society steps back and looks at the possibilities for sustainability, new and effective ideas are beginning to come to the surface. Green Architecture is a really interesting concept, as it forces people to step back and look at the bigger picture- creating an eco-friendly building as opposed to just using renewable energy. The structure of the building inspires and provides room for new ideas and creative ways in which people can live their lives more sustainably.
Generally, green architecture or sustainable architecture are general terms that describes environmentally conscious design techniques in the field of architecture and building. In the following video watch how the world renowned Dr. Ken Yeang shows how green design moves from theory to practice.
The Jerusalem Seminar in Architecture, initiated in 1992, is an international conference series devoted to discussing contemporary topics in the fields of Architecture, Urban Planning and Design. The last conference of the Seminar - Green Design: from Theory to Practice, took place in Jerusalem on 25-27 January 2009. A distinguished panel of practicing architects and experts, chaired by Dr. Ken Yeang, explored an array of current projects and technological advancements in the field.
An important feature of the seminar is a competition for Israeli architecture and design students, which reflects on the conference's theme, and enables an interactive dialog with the conference participators in special master class sessions.
